Why this archive exists
Conventional databases organise the world around what successfully launched, survived or became famous. We look at the other side: what nearly arrived, what appeared only to a limited audience, and what once belonged to everyday life before it left.
The goal is not nostalgia for its own sake. It is to make scattered evidence easier to follow and to show how close an idea came to becoming part of the world.
What makes it different
Every subject is placed into one of three mutually exclusive existence states and given a transparent How Close score based on its highest verified lifecycle stage. Each page keeps its evidence visible, records the most recent confirmed trace we found, and separates a project's story from the reason it ended.
Independent and reader-supported
The archive has no locked stories and no advertising feed. Reader ratings help identify the stories worth preserving and, over time, will support public rankings and new ways to explore the collection.
If the archive helped you discover something worth remembering, you can buy the archivist a coffee.
